This stunning 1950s cubist painting depicts a figural artist at work in their studio, complete with an easel, canvas, and paint palette. An intricate composition of geometric forms and intersecting lines, rendered in a dynamic palette of teal or mint green, warm earth tones, and soft pastels. This original painting on stretched canvas is set in a vintage gold-painted wood and linen frame, which is ready to hang with wire on the verso. The artist’s signature in the lower right corner reads “E La”, which may be attributed to Edward August Landon (1911-1984). This bold and thought-provoking piece would make a striking focal point in an expressive gallery wall or could stand alone as a statement piece.
Viewing area measures approximately 23.5" tall and 17.5" wide. The frame measures 29.5" tall, 23.5" wide, and 1" deep.

When you inspect closely, there are some small markings on the surface of the painting. The fabric mat on the frame has some subtle staining, particularly on the top left (pictured) and is splitting at the corners. A few small nicks to the wood frame. In my opinion, none of these condition notes detract from the beauty of the piece when viewing from a standard distance. less
