The map is oriented with west at top, with the calvary outside the city walls at top right. This plate originates from: 'the general large historical, judicial, chronological, geographical, and literal name and dictionary, of the gantschen h. Bible. Serving the memorial-pieces of the jews and other antiquities, for the clarification of the h. Scripture \. Now translated into the low german, admirably enlarged, and enriched with remarks, by matthew gargon.' and it's additons: 'by-vowel to the general capital \. Name and dictionary \. And now translated into pure low german, curiously increased, and metv notes enriched, by jakob van ostade and arn. Genr. Westerhovius.', by augustines calmet, published in leiden, amsterdam, by samuel luchtmans, r. & j. Wetstein and smith 1725-1731. This is a recognized encyclopaedic dictionary on all aspects of the history, geography and culture of the bible and biblical times.
