Purchased 1972 in Charleston, SC red- flammed mahogany finish with light colored trim, all in good condition, from a Southern lawyer's office. Imported from UK manufacture; estimated to be about 1840-60s. Fretted grate on top - absent on purchase. .Without provenance at time of purchase and only inferential hint at country origin is in "UK" on metalwork.
Maintained in regular use since then under curated care. Incompletely restored 25 years ago. Suffered minor repairable moisture injury in last four years while on California central coast. Readily corrected.
As with pedestal desks in three easily movable parts. With unmatched oak wheeled chair.
Has excelllent storage with six deep draws and six slots. Three writing panels, central with adjustable slant. Large writing surface with opportunity for hidden electrical access for computer.. Kneespace 25" with open back.
