Item description:
Beautiful, large glazed and vitrified ceramic lady, entirely hand-decorated, made in full Art Nouveau style, with crinoline skirt and handbag, classic 19th-century dress. Made by the Austrian manufacturer Bernhardt Bloch in the early decades of the 20th century. The catalog number "9333" is present under the base, but there is no manufacturer's mark. As proof of our attribution, we have included in the last photo the same lady, also numbered "9333," decorated differently, also made by the Bernhardt Bloch factory as per our attribution, offered at €880.
Useful information for evaluating the item:
Our internet research shows that Bernhardt Bloch's work has achieved numerous auction results, with the four highest ranging from €1,157 to €4,800, to which auction fees of 25-30% must be added. Bernhardt Bloch ceramics normally sell online for between €300 and €1,000-1,200, depending on the size and beauty of the piece. We also found a very large and truly beautiful terracotta gnome, measuring 80 centimeters in height, made by the same manufacturer, for which almost €8,000 is being asked on the Internet, all to give an idea of the value of Bernard Bloch's ceramics.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
Bernhardt Bloch was an important Austrian artist who founded his own factory in 1869, which operated until 1910 in Bohemia, at the time under the control of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He boasts numerous auction results, many years of artistic production, and is internationally renowned for the quality of his objects.
