Hand-carved from solid white marble with charcoal-gray veining, this petite pedestal shows classic late-Victorian/Grand Tour taste: an octagonal plinth, a gadrooned baluster, and a spiral (barber-pole) column rising to a square top with chamfered corners. Substantial in weight for its size, it’s ideal for a bust, urn, objet, or trailing plant and works beautifully in neoclassical, Italianate, and eclectic interiors.
Condition
Presents well with age-appropriate wear: light surface scratches, and a faint ring/etching to the top from previous display—consistent with antique marble and noted for accuracy.
