Call me crazy, but I feel like there’s so much emotion in this painting. The man on board speaks to the viewer - is he afraid? Lovely? Confident that he can weather the storm? No matter what he’s conveying, the truth is that he needs a place to feel safe and call home. Is it your wall or your client’s?
While I’m not 100% sure of the era or origination of this painting, as it’s unsigned, the color palette is beautiful. The more I look at it, the more I see. What a perfect addition to a cottage, nautical bedroom, or moody living room space.
This piece is as found when purchased it in Virginia. It is framed, although the back has been secured/altered somehow as there is cardboard on the back. The frame has some minor chipping, too.
