Bold abstract composition by Robert William Hinds (American, b. 1926). The central shape in this composition divides the canvas as it stretches towards the edge, creating separation between large swathes of white. This central shape is composed of blocks of blues, greens, and deep purple. There are a variety of straight and curved edges within the piece, creating visual interest.

Robert William Hinds (American, b. 1924) is an artist, illustrator, sculptor, and educator originally from Ohio. Hinds worked as a graphic designer for about 15 years in New York but left to pursue sculpting and painting full-time. He studied casting techniques in Bologna, Italy before returning to the United Stated and settling in Santa Fe. Hinds was a United Nations Artist, living in the Caribbean where he taught and directed art programs. His world travels are frequently reflected in the themes of his art. See less
