Featuring Egyptian Revival styling influences … Read more your consideration is an antique Japanese porcelain covered pedestal urn in the “Thousand Faces” pattern. Featuring Egyptian Revival styling influences that was all the rage in the 1920s, the urn is exquisitely hand decorated in an array of brilliant colors with gilt enhancements. Countless tiny Japanese faces adorn the base and body of the urn that speaks to the level of artistic detail and exotic craftsmanship this piece offers. Standing approximately 10 inches in height and measuring 4.5 inches in width at the handles, the urn sits on a 3.5 inch square pedestal base. The cover appears to have cracked or experienced a clean break into 3 pieces that were reattached/repaired. This was executed with reasonable care and while the imperfections appear to be nothing more than a hairline crack now, this is not immediately noticeable or distracting. Expected light wear and rubbing is seen to the gilding on the handles, and extremely faint uniform crazing is visible on close inspection. In otherwise beautiful antique condition that presents well, the urn has wear commensurate to age and history of use so please regard the photos as they form a descriptive part of the listing.
