François Boucher was a prominent French painter known for his work in the Rococo style during the 18th century, celebrated for his idyllic and decorative paintings that often depicted classical themes and pastoral scenes.

The myth of Leda and the Swan originates from Greek mythology, where Zeus, or Jupiter, in the Roman version, appears disguised as a swan in order to seduce Leda. Boucher’s interpretation leans towards beauty and allure.
