Pair of Early 20th-Century Amphora Vases – Urns- Neoclassical Style
This elegant pair of Early 20th-century amphora vases/urns is crafted in a refined neoclassical style, likely of European origin, most likely France. Each vase/urn features a light blue and white ground with ornate gilt accents, including handles, trim, and borders.
The bodies are bulbous with a flared neck, resting on square pedestal bases. The front of each urn is decorated with hand-painted floral medallions in vibrant colors, framed with delicate gold detailing. Each vase/urn is topped with a removable screw-on lid and velvet green bottoms ( therefore, unable to identify the maker).
Notably, both vases/urns include a discreet hole at the back of the base, suggesting they were either adapted or designed for possible conversion into lamps—a popular practice in the early 20th century.
