This is one of seven paintings in the short "California Series," (painted, in fact, on the artist's honeymoon almost 40 years ago.)
This series is among Georges most "painterly" work. Very heavy application of oil paint emphasizes each stroke of the artist's brush.
If you look closely, you will see that what appears to be solid expanses of color, are actually multi-colored blends of every conceivable hue.
"California Hills" was painted on a 12" x 16" masonite board and measures 19" x 22.5" including gold gilt frame.
Perfect for a narrower wall, this painting is shown on a 36" wide gallery wall.
