It is a later version of cassina's "i maestri" collection, produced in 1973 and now discontinued.

the chair is made of ebonized ash and features a high, sculptural backrest with a characteristic oval finial, considered a design and symbolic feature by mackintosh.

the backrest is constructed from vertical panels and slender rods, creating a striking, graphic silhouette. The seat is upholstered and covered in the original blue-and-black crine (horsehair) fabric.

the construction is meticulously crafted, with cross braces below the seat and a gently curved lower finial at the front and back, adding a soft touch to the geometric design.

the chair bears the original cassina branding with serial number 803 and the designer's initials.

the proportions and shapes are based on original designs and dimensions from the mackintosh collection at the university of glasgow.
