This beautiful pair of antique watercolor paintings depicts two angels with trumpets, richly detailed in gold accents and dressed in flowing robes—one in rose, the other in deep green. The artworks, each measuring 7" W x 14" H (sight size), are set within ornate giltwood frames featuring leaf-and-branch corners.
The frames measure 12" W x 19" H overall and have a warm patina from age. Some carved and gilded wood elements are missing, consistent with age and use, but they still present beautifully. Both watercolors remain vivid and finely detailed.
The reverse of one frame bears a handwritten inscription: "Pietro Casini, fabbricante di cornici dorate" — identifying Casini as a maker of gilded frames in Florence, Italy. The paintings were acquired in Scotland, but the frames indicate Italian craftsmanship dating to the late 19th century.
