"Bertie and the Tin Man" is a historical mystery novel by Peter Lovesey, featuring Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, as an amateur detective. The story is set in 1886 and revolves around the suspicious death of famous jockey Fred Archer, who apparently committed suicide due to illness. The Prince of Wales, known as Bertie, investigates the case, driven by his admiration for Archer and his suspicion that the official explanation is incomplete. The novel is the first in the "Bertie" series.
