Cecil Aldin (1870-1935) was known for his illustrations and paintings of the English countryside, animals, and the sportsman s lifestyle, especially fox hunting. In addition to his oil paintings, Aldin worked as an illustrator for the popular publication The Illustrated London Times, and also provided illustrations for editions of Charles Dickens The Pickwick Paper and Rudyard Kipling s The Second Jungle Book. A "sabretache", by the way, is a flat satchel on long straps worn by some cavalry and horse artillery officers from the left of the waist-belt. It was also the pseudonym for Albert Stewart Barrow. Foreword by Gwen Aldin, the artist's daughter.
