Antique map 'Le Duche d'Aiguillon'. Decorative map of the Aiguillon region, France. Located at the confluence of the Lot and Garonne rivers. The map is based on the cartography of Pierre du Vall and dedicated to Marie de Vignerot de Pontcourlay, Marquise of Combalet and Duchesse d'Aiguillon. She was the niece of Cardinal Richelieu and became one of the greatest Catholic philanthropists of 17th century France. This map originates from 'Atlas Novus, Sive Theatrum Orbis Orbis Terrarum: In quo Galliae, Helvetiae (\.)' by J. Janssonius (1656-1657). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
