The hat, delightfully … Read more This painting was directly inspired by a swimming pool photo shoot I attended, as a painter, recently. The hat, delightfully large, and the poses, just modest enough. The technique I used here was one of my favorites, the palette knife method, creating thick texture and a more abstract quality. The hat is painted in lamp black over blue, and presents as black. The blue that you can see underneath on the hat is where the sun is hitting it. The cool water over the warm skin is palatable.
