The iconography is taken from an important engraving by Hans Von Achen that deals with the theme of the introduction of the personification of painting among the arts and sciences, but in this case the figures with classical attire are placed in the city of Rome, which is recognizable by a certain topographical quality of the representation. The fact that the object is in terracotta rather than bronze, as it is usually found, makes it a rare and fascinating piece. Furthermore, the piece differs from all others known for the frame that follows classicizing decorative element with acanthus leaves. The object has received restoration over time. The terracotta, in its state and wear of the patinas, is in accordance with being a piece from the early seventeenth century. Diameter 25 cm. See less
