Purchased … Read more A stunning 94.5” rosewood sideboard from the 1960’s designed by Johannes Andersen for Uldum Møbelfabrik. Rarely available in rosewood.
Purchased in 1972 at the Scandia Interiors store in San Diego, this Model U15 sideboard remains in very good condition. Handcrafted from exquisite book-matched Brazilian rosewood with rounded corners, it features a pair of sliding tambour doors in the center and four pull-out drawers at each end with sculptural recessed pulls. The tambour doors open to reveal a center compartment consisting of two sections, one with a single shelf and the other with two shelves, while the eight pull out drawers are lined in green felt. Together, these provide generous storage space.
Johannes Andersen exemplified the Scandinavian Modern style. His works were defined by organic curves and flowing lines. His Model U15 sideboard combines grace with function. Raised on solid rosewood tapered legs, and with a back finished in rosewood, this sideboard works elegantly in an open floor plan, serving as a distinctive separator between a dining space and a living space.
This sideboard blends beautifully with two companion pieces also available from this seller, also made in rosewood: A set of six dining chairs and a dining table, purchased at the same time in 1972 as a dining room set. These can each be found in separate listings.
