Very hard to find sculptural bust of a beautiful Southeast Asian woman wearing an ornate Stupa-like headdress made by American … Read more Very hard to find sculptural bust of a beautiful Southeast Asian woman wearing an ornate Stupa-like headdress made by American artist Fred Press whose sculptures, prints, giftware designs and paintings were a mainstay of Mid-Century Modern art.

This bust is cast in a heavyweight plaster composition with a golden-brown finish and pebbled texture. The detailing in the exotic headdress is exceptional, as is the fine featuring of her delicate face. The back of the neck is inscribed "© FRED PRESS".

It measures 16" tall on a 4" square base, and weighs 3 lbs.

It's in very good vintage condition with no cracks or breaks and just has a minor chip along the back edge of her headdress (see CU photo).
