"currency #265" by natasha lelenco presents the profile of an anonymous male figure in deep blue tones, painted over a luminous metallic silver colour background. The portrait is framed by an inscription in galician that reads: “mudei de pel, mudei de mundo, mudei” (“i changed my skin, i changed my world, i changed”), a circular phrase that reinforces the idea of ongoing transformation—physical, emotional, and geographic. Executed in acrylic and metallic pigments on a 26 cm wooden panel, this piece belongs to the artist's ongoing currencies series, which uses the symbolic form of the coin to reflect on migration, identity, and the arbitrary nature of value. The silver surface evokes both industrial materiality and ritual iconography, contrasting with the shadowed modeling of the face. The internal marks and layered textures within the head suggest memory, erasure, and reconfiguration. As with all works in the series, the figure is deliberately anonymous and dislocated, removed from national iconography to suggest a wider, collective experience of displacement. Each coin in the series is assigned an arbitrary value—fixed and certified on the reverse—reflecting a conceptual commentary on how human lives are often valued unequally based on origin or circumstance, independent of merit or labor. These pieces can be exhibited individually or combined into modular groupings for larger, site-responsive installations. Their manageable scale and unified visual language make them ideal for institutional walls, domestic interiors, or curatorial grids. This piece has an attribution mark,
