Plate 15: 'Snapshots of Banda Island.' Depiction of the Banda Islands, Indonesia. Rare. This attractive plate originates from: 'Title: True story of the Shipping on the East Indies Ghedaen by the eight ships in the years 1598. from Amsterdam uyt-gezeylt, under the policy of the Admiral Jacob Cornelissoon of Neck, ended Vice-Admiral Wybrand of which Warwick was part.' of the monumental work by Isaac Commelin (1598-1676) on VOC voyages: 'Begin ende voortgangh van de Vereenighde Nederlantsche Geoctroyeerd Oost-Indische Company\.\.', published by Joannes Janssonius, Amsterdam, 1646.
