Artwork sold with frame (101x128 cm) Laure‑Stella Bruni was born in Liège, Belgium in either 1886 or 1890, of Italian-Swiss descent, belonging to a prominent musical family from Ticino. She is the great‑granddaughter of painter Fiodor Bruni and daughter of pianist/conductor Constantin Bruni. The family moved to France and by 1898 she became a naturalized French citizen. Around 1908, after relocating to Geneva, she transitioned her ambitions from music to visual art. Bruni’s early artistic journey included exhibiting her work in Geneva around 1909 at Galerie Moos, and later at the Nice Opera foyer in 1925. Her Paris debut began in 1921, with participation in respected venues like the Salon des Artistes Indépendants and Société Nationale des Beaux‑Arts until 1939. Solo exhibitions were held at Galerie Georges Petit in 1923–24. Bruni painted landscapes, seascapes, floral still lifes, and city scenes with a modern yet accessible style. Pieces like "Calm Sea" (1951), "Lac et Montagnes", and "Paysage aux cyprès" reflect her serene compositions and deft use of oil on canvas. She also created etchings, including Belleville et Ménilmontant (1937), showcasing her versatility. She showed works at major Salons in Paris for almost two decades. Galerie Moos hosted her solo shows in Geneva, while Piguet Hôtel des Ventes in Geneva handled her pieces at auction. Bruni's works continue to appear in auction results. Examples include a still life sold at Koller Auctions in 2009, and Bouquet de fleurs at Piguet in 2017. Her canvas Tree‑lined Road sold at a Sarasota estate auction, evidencing continued collector interest. She passed away in 1975 in Le Locle, Switzerland, leaving a legacy of atmospheric paintings that remain appreciated in both Swiss and French collections. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
