designer sergio mazza italian designer born in 1931 in milan. In 1955 he opened his own business and since 1961 has worked alongside g. Gramigna in the smc studio, working in furniture and industrial design. Among the many honors and awards he received were a mention for the 1960 compasso d'oro due to the artemide delta lamp and a silver medal for the italian apartment at the 10th milan triennale. From 1967 he began designing for olivari. In the field of publishing, he co-edited ottagono magazine from its founding until 1988. Artemide brand founded by ernesto gismondi and sergio mazza in 1959 and is a company essentially specialized in the production of lighting accessories (lamps, chandeliers). This brand has been characterized from the beginning by a great attention to design, which has enabled it over the years to win numerous international awards for its products.
