About Artist
Lucien Lefèvre (1862 - 1895) was a French poster artist and cartoonist.
To this day, little is known about his life. He first studied industrial design and, perhaps, portraiture, before exhibiting at the Salon des Indépendants.
Becoming a student of Jules Chéret, and initially influenced by him, he began practicing lithography at Chaix, then acquired a reputation as a poster artist from 1890 onwards.
He died prematurely on April 25, 1895, at his Parisian home at 8 rue Tardieu in the 9th arrondissement. He was buried two days later in the Parisian cemetery of Saint-Ouen. His death was not announced in the press, but at the beginning of 1896, some newspapers mentioned the "late designer" on the occasion of the announcement of the release of the 3rd volume of Masters of the Poster.
