The work features a composite structure of great formal balance: the shaft, entirely carved in alabaster with light vertical fluting, rests on a square ebonized wooden base (10 x 10 cm), with a molded plinth gilded with gold leaf. The capital recalls the Corinthian model, with richly carved scrolls and floral details, also gilded with gold leaf. Particularly curious and decorative is the presence, at the center of the capital, of a small projecting zoomorphic element, vaguely resembling a stylized eagle's head, which enriches the ornamental structure. The top of each column is capped by a double spherical element: a larger alabaster sphere surmounted by a smaller gilded wooden one, with a decorative function and likely intended as a terminal element. The set suggests their original use as side pieces, perhaps intended to flank a mantel clock or as supports for small lamps or decorative urns. Height 35 cm. Base 10 x 10 cm. These refined and striking pieces are in excellent condition with a natural patina. Ideal for classic settings or as a contrasting addition to contemporary spaces. See less
