Collage has always been an interest of mine. Collecting papers, unique shapes of randomness, cardboard, anything with interesting textures, would be discarded materials have a story of their own. Collage allows me to give a new life to these items and extend their purpose. My father was always very conscious of these things. We recycled, broke down our boxes, grew our own vegetables, dried our clothes outside on the line. It felt like we were part of a system that worked for ourselves and for the planet.
This mixed media painting incorporates found materials I’ve collected, scraps of painted papers and cardboard, scraps of fabric, lace, and other materials with encaustic wax layered with paint and oil pastel. It has an ephemeral and deep calmness about it. It will draw you in with the collage and you can explore.
