Why We Love It: Cremone bolt hardware and true louvered doors on a piece this scale is a serious design detail — this isn't a cabinet dressed up to look plantation-style, it's built to the actual construction standard.

More About This Item
This armoire has real architectural presence, built around double fixed louvered doors that run the full height of the piece in tight, even slats. The hardware is where this one separates itself from typical reproduction case goods: a full cremone bolt mechanism runs vertically down the center, the kind of functional, decorative latching system borrowed directly from French doors and shutters, rather than a simple decorative pull standing in for the look.

The cabinet sits on a removable base, a practical detail that makes an already substantial piece meaningfully easier to move and place. Inside, adjustable shelving gives it genuine flexibility — set up for linens and general storage, or reconfigured as a media cabinet for a television and components, with the louvered doors allowing airflow and remote signal through even when closed. The finish carries intentional distressing throughout, giving the piece a sense of history and softened edges despite its newer manufacture.

Manufacturer's labels are present on both the back and interior of the cabinet, confirming Ralph Lauren Home as the source. These cabinets were acquired directly from a retired interior designer in the Great Lakes area, new and unused prior to acquisition — and a second, identical piece is also currently available in our shop for anyone looking to place a matching pair.

Interior measures 47.75" wide, and interior shelves measure 17.75" deep. Removable base measures 11" tall. If used as a media cabinet, the maximum height of TV that could be accommodated is roughly 43".

Design Style
Louvered doors and cremone bolt hardware both draw on British Colonial and plantation-style architecture, where functional shutters and ventilated paneling were originally practical responses to warm climates before becoming a defining decorative motif in their own right. Ralph Lauren Home has long leaned into this aesthetic across its furniture lines, translating colonial and campaign-style references into pieces built for contemporary American interiors.

A cabinet like this suits coastal, British Colonial, or tailored traditional interiors particularly well, and works equally as a bedroom armoire, a media cabinet in a living space, or general storage in an entry or dining room — anywhere that wants texture and architectural detail on a large-scale case piece.

Brand Legacy
Ralph Lauren Home has spent decades translating the brand's heritage-driven, tailored aesthetic into furniture and home goods, drawing consistently on British Colonial, equestrian, and classic American references. Pieces like this armoire reflect the brand's commitment to genuine construction detail — true louvered doors, functional cremone bolt hardware — rather than purely decorative shortcuts, which is a meaningful part of why Ralph Lauren furniture continues to hold its value and appeal.
