This is a unusually lovely fireplace screen. The face fabric is jacquard silk with a subtle tone on tone pattern, trimmed with coordinating gimp. The back is solid color silk. The frame is carved and finished in a soft silver and gold. Style is reflective of English or French origin.
The fabric is in perfect condition, it is structurally sound and the finish does not show wear of any note.
As I do not know the history of this piece, I cannot date it. It could be an old piece with newer fabric or a reproduction.
