Born in bristol, evans was a pupil of francis danby (1793– 1861) and associated with the artists of the bristol school.evans had a deft touch and, although a landscape artist, he was also skilled at figures. He spent time in italy in the 1850s, from which time this study likely dates. Signed: no. Inscribed: stamped on verso of drawing: 'evans of bristol'. Further inscriptions on the back of the mount. Height: 12.4cm (4.9″) width: 8.6cm (3.4″) condition: overall in very good condition for its age. Very slight age toning to the paper. There are some minor marks to the mount.
