measures 12" x 12", was created on cradled birch panel, archival gesso, the sides are painted and this piece is ready for hanging in your home.
This series is titled Meet Your Meat: Vanitas for Smithfields. The pieces were created to be shown and sold out of a great restaurant in Ashland, OR called Smithfileds. www.smithfieldsashland.com.
Vanitas is a type of painting originating in Europe the baroque period, they are still life paintings that include reminders that life is short, you will die, so think about how you are living.
For this series the twist is - Life is short, (especially for the animals who you get your food from!) so make sure your meat is as tasty and ethical as possible.
