The prestigious collector's edition of the millenary texts of Sefer Yetsira and the Thirty-Two Paths of Wisdom, includes 36 original illustrations of Ernst Fuchs. There are a limited 297 copies for the entire world, whatever the language or materials used, each copy is numbered from 1-297 and bears the artist's signature.
For this work, Ernst Fuchs has created:
14 original engravings (etched engraving, etching-needle, soft varnish, burin), inset plates numbered and signed by the artist, 7 of them in a separate portfolio, 22 full-page colour illustrations in-text.
The french and english translations from the original Hebrew were specially executed by Professor H. Zafrano (1975).
The German translation is the work of Professor F. Meyer (1830).
The texts in the work have been hand set by the Imprimerie Nationale of Paris. The types used for the Hebrew text were engraved in 1858. They reproduce the type created by Guillaume Le Be, which were used for the Bible published by Robert Estienne in 1551.
The Hebrew text was reproduced by serigraphy and then gold embossed.
The 24 point Garamont type was selected for the text of the translations.
This work was printed on Arches wove paper, a 250 g pure rag paper, in folio 76x56 cm.
The serigraphic work was done at the atelier of Michel GAZA and the lithography at the ART-LITHO studio.
Prints from the copperplate engravings are the work of Pierre CHAMBILI, copperplate engraver at the Art-Ltho atelier and Daniel MORET of the Moret atelier.
Some bindings of this edition beat on the garnet-velvet front cover, a seven branched candlestick created by Ernst Fuchs in gold embossing.
As usual the proofs, printed in addition, reserved for the artist, the authors, the collaborators, official copyright and not intended for sale, have been numbered and signed by the artist.
This edition was conceived and realized under the mastery of Ariane Lancell and Yves Gauguet.
