However, to my knowledge, this is … Read more The design of the lamp is very often attributed to the artist Charlotte Perriand. However, to my knowledge, this is not correct. It is an industrial product from the German company Singer. Singer is a manufacturer of sewing machines and knitting machines. These lamps were installed on top of the knitting machines to check the fabrics at the end. The lamp probably dates from the 1950s. The original wiring is still installed. Since this is the original condition, I didn't want to destroy it by installing new electrical components. The lampshade is made of Bakelite.


Due to the lack of the original bulb, I was unable to perform a functional test. However, converting to a modern bulb would have destroyed the original condition. Therefore, for the sake of fairness, I'm stating that the lamp is not functional. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
