This box is from one of the most famous and talented small cabinetmaking firms in 19th century France favored by Napoleon III. Ebonized veneers and brass inlay make this a handsome box. The firm closed in 1882. No key. I can’t be sure but I am assuming the lining has been redone…and beautifully
