Likely produced in Italy during the mid-20th century, the mirror’s dynamic design draws inspiration from both Renaissance ecclesiastical ornament and the French Régence and Louis XIV styles, while reflecting the mid-century revival of neoclassical motifs.

The carved frame consists of tiered and staggered radiating rays, each hand-shaped and faceted to catch and reflect ambient light. The rays are finished in warm, burnished gold leaf, with areas of natural age patina and oxidation lending depth and visual texture. At the interior edge, the rays are bordered by a circular band of applied laurel garland, an ornamental motif associated with victory, divinity, and enlightenment—reinforcing the celestial theme.

At the center rests a convex mirror plate, intentionally domed to widen the field of reflection and to further emphasize the sunburst’s radiant effect.
