When possible, I always like to have a big, bold, chunky coffee table as the heart of a room, for both casual and more refined spaces. The idea of this silhouette was to create a substantial but low-sung profile with large square block feet, that would have a classic lndo-Chinese and island sensibility. Every surface is covered in bamboo, while the top is framed in a softly elegant profile and beautifully surfaced in pressed bamboo. A large-scale framed mirror uses the same profiles and mix with paneled bamboo. I envisioned this group in our Khaviar finish for the city, quite dark and luxurious.

At over 125 pieces, this collection designed by Thomas O'Brien for Century Furniture includes many types of furniture, from upholstery to handcrafted wood and metalwork, for every room of the home, and in time, the garden. In style it is hopefully just as ambitious and interesting. There are purely handsome French and Scandinavian modern inspirations, but also the world of historical English forms, and the glamour of the American skyscraper age in between. All these influences are refined and recombined through the ways that I think about vintage and modern living. Some of them are dressy. Some are casual.
