Seat and backrest:
One-piece blue polyamide shell with rounded, ergonomic lines, shown here in a bright blue color very typical of the era.
The glossy finish highlights the utilitarian style while remaining aesthetically pleasing.
Frame:
Black tubular metal base, designed to be sturdy and stable.
The design also allows for easy stacking, making them ideal for public spaces, institutions, or modular offices.
Functionality:
The stackable system was innovative for its time and clearly demonstrates Borsani’s rationalist and functional approach.
They can also be arranged together to create a row of chairs resembling a bench.
He aimed for high-quality industrial production combined with a modern aesthetic.
About Osvaldo Borsani:
An Italian architect and designer, Borsani is best known for co-founding Tecno in 1953. He distinguished himself through an approach that blended modern design, functionality, and technical innovation. The Modus chair fully embodies this philosophy, offering a piece that is affordable, stackable, durable, and yet elegant in its industrial minimalism.
