A superb and richly detailed gilt bronze jardinière from the 1920s, featuring intricate openwork scrollwork in a Neo-Gothic or Renaissance Revival style. The piece is adorned with lion-head masks on each corner, resting on four claw feet with acanthus leaf details.
This jardinière is marked “LIRES” in relief on the underside, followed by a production number – a likely reference to the foundry or decorative arts atelier responsible for its casting.
The upper gallery features a pierced trefoil and diamond motif, while the lower body is richly chased with swirling acanthus, rosettes, and classical flourishes. The interior has its original metal liner.
