This stately piece is constructed in rich mahogany and features a drop front writing surface above a classic graduated drawer arrangement with a block-front profile. The slant front is carved with a dramatic central shell flanked by fan-carved corners, lending a bold sense of movement and traditional appeal.

The desk interior is fitted with a bank of pigeonholes and small drawers for organizing correspondence and writing tools. Elegant brass batwing pulls and pierced escutcheons adorn the drawers, which retain their original locks. The piece stands confidently on carved ball and claw feet, a hallmark of Chippendale revival craftsmanship. It originally had a gallery along the top, which has been removed; the filled screw holes are visible upon close inspection but do not detract from its presentation.
