This handsome Antique Northwest Persian runner, woven around 1900, is a striking example of the bold geometric artistry and durable village craftsmanship that distinguish the finest tribal weavings of the region. Its impressive length and dynamic composition make it an exceptional choice for a hallway, gallery, or other elongated interior space.
The rich walnut-brown field is anchored by a dramatic sequence of large angular medallions in brick red, sky blue, ivory, and soft gold, linked together by stylized hooked motifs that create a powerful sense of movement throughout the runner. Delicate floral rosettes and small geometric ornaments fill the surrounding field, adding balance and visual richness without distracting from the bold central design.
A series of beautifully executed borders frames the composition, featuring traditional geometric motifs and stylized floral elements woven in shades of ivory, sapphire blue, coral, camel, and deep indigo. The vibrant palette has mellowed gracefully over more than a century, producing the warm patina and subtle abrash so highly prized by collectors of authentic antique Persian rugs.
Handwoven from high-quality hand-spun wool and dyed with natural vegetable dyes, the runner exhibits a sturdy village weave, excellent texture, and remarkable clarity of design. The crisp drawing and harmonious color balance reflect the skill and artistic confidence of the weavers from Northwest Persia.
Presented in good condition, the runner retains an attractive pile with honest wear consistent with its age, enhancing its authentic antique character while remaining both durable and highly decorative. Its timeless geometric design and refined tribal aesthetic make it equally suitable for traditional, rustic, or contemporary interiors.
A distinguished early twentieth-century Northwest Persian runner, offering exceptional craftsmanship, vibrant artistry, and enduring collector appeal.
