Lithograph, 1971 Handsigned by the artist in pencil and annotated II/XXIV Publisher : Le Soleil noir (Paris) Printer : Arte Adrien Maeght (Paris) Catalog : [Maeght 748, p.131] 47.00 cm. x 35.00 cm. 18.5 in. x 13.78 in. (paper) 47.00 cm. x 35.00 cm. 18.5 in. x 13.78 in. (image) On Arches vellum “Liberté des libertés” is a “book-painting” in which five prints by Miro illustrate the collection of poems by writer Alain Jouffroy. Published in 1971, in one hundred and twenty-five copies, our plate numbered “II/XXIV” is one of twenty-four artist's proofs printed in addition, for Joan Miro's own use. Red, blue, yellow and green are combined in an archaic graphic style that, freed from conventions, tends to go beyond consciousness to rediscover the free, primal language of childhood. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
