In 1897 Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed the interior furnishings for the Creston Tea room in Argyle street. This is how one of the most iconic chairs of the avant-garde style between the 19th and 20th centuries was born. This is the first important commission for one of the most representative architects of the Glasgow school, who also actively participated in the Viennese Secession movement. In 1973 Cassina decided to re-propose this exceptional chair with the seat lined in an exclusive fabric. This example, marked and numbered, is in excellent vintage condition and still has the seat fabric intact. It has some light signs of use and age. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
