HERMES les Cheyennes 1993 Oliver Kermit
This Hermès scarf represents the Cheyenne, a North American indigenous nation of Plains Indian culture, now residing on reservations in Montana and Oklahoma.
This scarf reflects elements of Cheyenne life, with rich ornamentation of clothing, weapons, and horse attire. North American nature is also present, with bison in the distance, a turtle, deer, foals, and a dog in the foreground.
A very rare scarf, sought after by collectors.
Oliver Kermit, son of an Afro-Texas cowboy, became the official painter of Hermès silk scarves in the 1990s, depicting all subjects related to Native Americans and the American West. He is the only American artist to have collaborated with the French fashion house on the development of patterns.
