About Nigel Grounds:
He was educated at Portree High School on the Isle of Skye and graduated from Gray's School of Art, in Aberdeen, with B.A (Hons.) in Fine Art in 1986.
He draws his inspiration from the notable characteristics of his local landscapes; Skye with its rugged mountains and towering sea-cliffs, the western Isles, with their isolated crofts perching in Machair, overlooking vast, empty beaches, while dark peaks circle turquoise seas; fishing and crofting villages such as Plockton and Applecross nestling in the grandeur of the surrounding hills.
His chosen medium is oils, he enjoy their expressive quality and ability to convey the unique light found here in the North West.
This is a beautiful painting that perfectly captures the true, mesmerizing colors of the water surrounding the Isle of Skye
