Cervelli, Babies Bawling Satirical Cartoon.A beautiful comic drawing in red ink and watercolour wash by French cartoonist and artist G. Cervelli (fl.1910–1920). The uses the image of two chubby, anguish-stricken babies—at once humorous, tragic and absurd—to communicate something essential about the human condition. Like the greatest arch satirists, through humour and high art he is able to hold a mirror up to ourselves.There are further humorous baby sketches on the verso.One of a pair that we have for sale (see JW-616).All artworks come with a Certificate of Authenticity and—if it is a collection artwork—its accompanying collection text or artist biography.
