The view shows the Street of Tombs cemetery at Pompeii. The new excavations and discoveries at Pompeii brought an influx of artists from the 18th century onwards, such as Giovanni Battista Piranesi, who in his last years was captivated by the antiquities of the ancient city.This picture was produced in the early 19th century by an anonymous Italian artist for the Grand Tour souvenir market.On cream wove paper with hand-painted grey border.All artworks come with a Certificate of Authenticity and—if it is a collection artwork—its accompanying collection text or artist biography.
