• Carved wood frame with decorative details, especially on the arms and legs.
• Upholstered seat, back, and arms in a striped floral damask fabric.
• Straight back and arms with turned or fluted legs.
This settee is a beautiful example of classic revival furniture, blending elegance and comfort, and would have been a fashionable piece in parlors or sitting rooms from the late 1800s through the early 1900s, although this piece may have been made as late as the 1940s.
The fabric and wood are well maintained, but the seat is slightly bowed in the center, perhaps from decadaes of people sitting on this lightly built piece of furniture. However, the structure seems sound, so it could be a compression of the stuffing.
Professionally reupolstered in the 1990s. Colors of upolstery fabric: Cream, beige, green and terra cotta. Underside is covered with black fabric.

This is visible in the front view photo of the settee. It seems to be structurally sound, so this may be a factor of the stuffing having compressed from decades of people sitting on it. The fabric is about 30 years old, having been reappolstered professionally in the 1990s, but it is spotless, and in excellent condition. The wood is also in excellent condition - no dings. I am not sure what type of wood it is. The decorative carvings are ornate throughout the piece. less
