A strikingly detailed illuminated vellum manuscript page featuring Latin Gregorian chant, dated to the post-Pentecost liturgical period. This rare artifact, measuring 27.5"H x 20.5"W x 2"D in its custom giltwood frame, showcases both the musical notations and beautifully preserved religious iconography in the marginalia.
The front side of the vellum displays elaborate hand-painted initials and a vertical row of expressive monks, culminating in a dramatic lower vignette. The musical script is traditional square notation on red four-line staves. The verso also contains chant notation with aged patina and fading consistent with centuries-old use.
A rare and museum-worthy artifact, perfect for collectors of sacred art, music history, or medieval manuscripts. The glass-front frame allows viewing from both sides, preserving this stunning piece while offering full visual access.
