The item dates to 1930. The "Italy" without the "Made In" indicates that the sculpture was made before 1940, when the Made in Italy label became mandatory by law. The patina under the base and the sculpture's artistic style confirm this dating. Although unsigned, the sculpture is easily attributed to Leopold Anzengruber and the Lucchesi and Carraresi workshop.

Finally, we would like to emphasize that this is an object made entirely by hand, without a mold, which ceramic experts generally call "plastics." This sculpture is very distinctive; note, for example, the man's face with its flattened cheeks and open mouth, with his hand held like a shell, representing the face of a man screaming at the top of his lungs to entice people to buy his products. A true gem for art lovers and collectors.

Artist and/or manufacturer information:
Both Leopold Anzengruber and the Lucchesi and Carraresi manufactory produced figurines of this type, and in fact, many experts believe it highly likely that Leopold, also known as Leo, Anzengruber collaborated for several years with the Florentine Lucchesi and Carraresi manufactory. In the last photos, we've included biographical notes on Anzengruber and historical references to the Carraresi and Lucchesi manufactory. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
