This would have been a smaller sketch or draft in preparation for the larger Die Würfelspieler painted in 1885. The beer stein and windows appear to be unfinished. Claus Meyer is known for his Old Dutch master style of painting. Beautiful portrayal of light, smoke, and portraiture. Signed in the upper right hand corner. Stamped on the back of the canvas from the canvas provider. Labeled on the back on the bottom left hand side of the stretcher. A label remains on the stretcher from “Th. Keonig München”.

Size: 15”H x 12”W x .75”D

Condition: Craquelure throughout the painting. Paint chips along the edges. A small tear at the top of the canvas near the edge of the stretcher. Please refer to pictures. See less
